OPERATION ECUADOR is an association of ministries
serving the needs of Christians in Ecuador. Besides the
Quito School of Biblical Studies the ministries include Camp Bellevue
at Cayambe, Hacienda de Esperanza (a home for children), and Church Plantings
(under the oversight of individual churches in North America.)
- Camp Bellevue at Cayambe
-
A ministry to provide a place for Youth Camps, Retreats for Groups
of Christians, and a Conference Center to serve the needs of churches of
Christ throughout Ecuador. Have hosted several weeks of Youth Camp
each summer, as well as the Annual Women of Ecuador Meeting, the nationwide
Bible Bowl Competition, the Teens of Ecuador Meeting, and the Men's
Christian Leadership Conference. Ulf and Margaret Hallen direct
this ministry which is financed and overseen by the Bellevue, WA church of
Christ.
- Hacienda de Esperanza
-
A growing ministry designed to provide a home with Christian
compassion and leadership for the hundreds of abandoned and neglected
children of Ecuador. The home began with eight children brought to its
door in the Fall of 2003. It continues to grow its campus with a goal
of housing over 100 of GOD's precious little ones. Jerry and Pat
Snyder, of Shawnee, OK are the Directors of this work which is under the
financial leadership and oversight of the Twickenham church of Christ in
Huntsville, AL.
- Church Plantings
-
A plan to incorporate graduates of the Quito
School of Biblical Studies into teams of church planters with their
work overseen and financially supported by churches in North America.
The first plant was in the community of Cayambe, two hours out of Quito, and
was under the oversight of the Bellevue, WA church. The second plant
was in Portoviejo, some eight hours from Quito, in a community of over
300,000. That work is financed and overseen by the Southwest church of
Christ, Pueblo, CO. The third plant was in Guayaquil, the largest city
in Ecuador with 2 million souls. That work is financed and overseen by
the Woodland West church of Christ, Arlington, TX. All of these are
growing works which supports our belief in the "Team Church Planting"
philosophy.
